GIPH 2019 : The International Conference of Geospatial Information and Public Health
December 20-22, 2019 | Changsha, Hunan

The International Conference of Geospatial Information and Public Health (GIPH 2019) is sponsored by Central South University and International Society of Geospatial Health (GnosisGIS), organized by Xiangya School of Public Health. This conference will be held on December 20-22, 2019 in Changsha, China. We sincerely invite you to attend the conference.

GIPH 2019 has the following topics:
1. Geospatial information and spatial epidemiology
2. Public health
3. Public health policy and health economics

Spatial epidemiology is a branch of epidemiology and a subject which studies the relationship between disease, health and the spatial environment by using geographic information systems and spatial analysis techniques. With the progress of spatial analysis and geographic information systems, spatial epidemiology plays an increasingly important role in the etiology study. At the same time, the function of geospatial information technology for decision-making in the field of public health becomes increasingly prominent. Public health is an enterprise for all members of society to prevent diseases and improve health. The indicators of public health directly show the living condition of human beings. Their importance is self-evident. Geospatial information technology is widely used in the field of public health through the application and industrial promotion of geospatial information technology in recent years. The significance of public health nowadays is beyond the scope of medical science and has a very important sociological significance.

GIPH 2019 will focus on geospatial information and public health, and invite famous experts and scholars– all over the world to make keynote reports. The primary goal of the conference is to bring together researchers, public health and preventive medicine workers, health policy makers and managers, clinicians, and pharmaceutical companies to a common forum, and also promote information interchange and cooperation between geospatial information and public health. The conference will call for papers from universities, hospitals, disease control centers, pharmaceutical companies, etc. We hope you will contribute to the theme of the conference and participate actively! You will have unexpected harvest! Hope to meet you in beautiful Changsha in December!

16th International Conference on Urban Health
People Oriented Urbanisation: Transforming Cities for Health and Well-Being
4 - 8 November 2019 | Xiamen, China

Conference website: http://www.isuhconference.org/

While urban infrastructure development and population dynamics continue to be major drivers of urbanisation, cities need to transform to achieve the ambitious goals of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). People’s health and wellbeing are at the heart of any urbanization process and calls for innovative, integrative and intelligent transformations in all sectors of the urban system.

The theme for the 16th International Conference on Urban Health  (ICUH 2019) is People Oriented Urbanisation: Transforming Cities for Health and Well-Being. People oriented urbanisation is about liveable, sustainable and healthy cities. People’s health and well-being in cities is very much determined by the environments in which they live, work, and interact. Better understanding of how urban environments affect people’s mental, social and physical health is critical to creating liveable and healthy cities and communities. People oriented transformations for urban health are needed in every sector affecting city life and win-win solutions are needed to promote people’s health and well-being and generate co-benefits across these sectors.

ICUH 2019 takes place in Xiamen, China – where Sir Patrick Manson (1866–1889) once discovered that tropical infectious diseases require a vector for transmission. He is considered the founding father of tropical medicine and the discoverer of vector-borne infections. The city of Xiamen provides a unique opportunity for practitioners, researchers, educators, and decision makers from all over the world to come together, exchange experiences and knowledge, learn and motivate each other to make health urban transformations for and with people.

The conference has identified six thematic priorities:

1.         Integrated Governance, Resilience and Health Risk Reduction
2.         Climate Change and Healthy Cities
3.         Economy, Trade, Employment and Social Inclusion
4.         Emerging Diseases, Healthcare and Public Services
5.         Urban-Rural Recoupling, Soil Security and Migration
6.         Liveable Urban Environments, Urban Planning and Design
